Scholarship winners announced
Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative believes strongly in the future of area students. To recognize the achievements of these students and to encourage them to prepare for future journeys, Burke-Divide Electric awards three $500 scholarships each year.
These scholarships are awarded to dependents of Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative members based on academic excellence, school and community involvement, and an essay.
Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative Memorial Scholarship
This year’s recipient of the $500 Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative Memorial Scholarship is Kiah Nelson. Kiah is a senior at Burke Central High School and is the daughter of Jodi and Charlie Nelson of Columbus.
Kiah participates in many activities at school and in her community including volleyball, basketball, track, band, choir, Pep Club, Student Council, Academic Olympics, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Math Counts, blood drives, and community clean up days.
Kiah plans to study dental hygiene and business at Minnesota State University Moorhead in the fall.
Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarships
Jeneca Kostad and Taylor Schoemer are each a recipient of a $500 Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship.
Jeneca is a senior at Kenmare High School and is the daughter of Becky and Jan Kostad of Kenmare.
Jeneca participates in many activities at school including basketball, volleyball, golf, and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Jeneca is currently the North Dakota FBLA State Treasurer.
Jeneca plans to study accountancy and business tourism at Arizona State University in the fall.
Taylor Schoemer is a senior at Kenmare High School and is the daughter of Stacey and Patrick Schoemer of Kenmare.
Taylor participates in many activities at school including volleyball, basketball, Student Council, Envirothon, Academic Olympics, Math Track Meet, band, and Future Farmers of America (FFA).
Taylor plans to exercise science and physical therapy at the University of Mary in the fall.
