September Message from the Manager
Economic development and your cooperative
Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative (BDEC) was formed in 1945 with a mission to provide reliable, high quality electricity at a competitive cost, to strengthen the area economy and to lead in improving the region's quality of life through innovative, state of the art products and service while operating within cooperative principles.
In keeping with our mission to strengthen the area economy and the co-op principle of Concern for Community, BDEC has established a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF). The fund, established in 1998, was made possible through the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Loan and Grant program which was designed to foster and promote sustainable economic development and job creation in rural America.
The goal of BDEC’s RLF is to provide a local, low-interest funding source to assist with economic and community development projects within the Cooperative’s service area. Our priorities include job creation and retention, diversification of the local economy, improving the skills and education of the rural workforce, and upgrading public infrastructure to improve the health, safety, and /or medical care of rural residents.
Our RLF is intended to be a supplemental funding source for businesses and community projects. We work closely with our local lending institutions and other economic development lenders to provide a complete financing package to qualified new and expanding businesses in our service area.
Through our board and staff, BDEC is proud to provide not only leadership but financial participation in economic and community development within our service area.
If you are considering starting new business or purchasing an existing business or you are a business owner looking to expand, give us a call to see if your project qualifies for our Revolving Loan Fund.
Until next time,
