80th Annual Meeting Highlights
Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative held its 80th annual meeting June 11 at the cooperative’s headquarters in Columbus.
94 members members registered to vote. A barbecue style meal was served to 250 members and guests. The attendance gifts were a 5-gallon bucket with a lid and a lap blanket.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate as we had hoped for Touchstone Energy hot air balloon rides. The pilots were able to inflate the balloon and give a few rides; however, the wind became too strong, forcing them to bring it back down.
Capital credit checks were distributed to members who received electric service from the cooperative in 2009, 2010, 2011 and/or 2014. If you were not able to attend the annual meeting and you were issued a capital credit check, the check was mailed to you.
Business Manager Brooke Watterud presented the cooperative’s 2024 financial report. Watterud reported Eide Bailly issued the cooperative an unmodified (“clean”) audit opinion for 2024.
President David Sigloh and Manager Jerry King presented a report on the past year of operations. We discussed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) projects and reimbursements from the April 2022 storm, the cooperative’s new construction work plan, capital credit retirements, supply chain issues and future rates.
Kent Haugland, Lane Titus and David Sigloh were reelected to the board of directors. Director Haugland represents members in District 1, Director Titus represents members in District 2 and Director Sigloh represents members in District 3. Each will serve a three-year term.
Director Lane Titus was recognized for 15 years of service on the board of directors.
The winner of the $800 progressive cash drawing was not present at the meeting. Ann Crosby won the $500
luck-of-the-draw scholarship. Ann is the daughter of Kiara and Mark Crosby of Bowbells.
Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative directors, management, and employees thank all members and guests for attending the cooperative’s 80th annual meeting. We value your interest in the operation and success of your electric cooperative.
