79th Annual Meeting Highlights

Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative held its 79th annual meeting June 12 at the cooperative’s Crosby Outpost with 78 members registered.

A barbecue style meal was served to 160 members and guests.  The attendance gifts were a glass meal-prep container and a Swedish dish towel.

Office Manager Brooke Watterud presented the cooperative’s 2023 financial report.  Watterud reported that Eide Bailly issued the cooperative an unmodified (“clean”) audit opinion for 2023.

President David Sigloh and Manager Jerry King presented a report on the past year of operations.  Sigloh and King discussed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) projects and reimbursements, the cooperative’s construction work plan, capital credit retirements, supply chain issues, the potential impacts of new EPA rules, and future rates.     

Jeremy Severson, Vice President of Transmission at Basin Electric Cooperative, discussed member load growth, generation projects and transmission projects.

Members re-elected Lynn Jacobson and Steve Overlee to the Board of Directors.  Director Jacobson represents members in District 1.  Director Overlee represents members in District 2.  Each will serve a three-year term.

David Sigloh, District 3 Director, was recognized for 35 years of service on the cooperative’s Board of Directors.

The winner of the $250 progressive cash drawing was not present at the meeting.  Next year’s progressive cash drawing increases to $350.

Kiah Nelson won the $500 Luck-of-the-Draw scholarship.  Kiah is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Mary.  Kiah is the daughter of Jodi and Charlie Nelson of Columbus.
