APPRENTICE ELECTRICIAN SEASONAL (1,000 HOURS)

Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative (BDEC) has an immediate opening at our Crosby Outpost for an Apprentice Electrician for the 2026 construction season, working up to 1,000 hours.

Position Summary
The Apprentice Electrician will assist the Master/Journey Electricians in providing effective and efficient wiring, installation, and maintenance on electrical services and equipment for consumers with supervision in a safe, logical manner while complying with all electrical codes and safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with electrical installation and maintenance activities at the job site
  • Assists with locates of consumers secondary lines and provides
  • Operate a trencher, backhoe, digger/derrick, bucket truck and vehicles used for towing
  • Makes frequent checks of tools and protective equipment and attends and participates in safety meetings
  • Keeps fully informed of established state and national electrical codes

Qualifications
Qualified applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; training from a vocational/technical school in electrical wiring or a similar program and/or previous electrical experience
  • Current North Dakota Apprentice Electrician License
  • Valid North Dakota Driver’s License with an insurable driving record. A Class A CDL is preferred but not required.

JOURNEYMAN LINEWORKER

Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative (BDEC) is accepting applications for a Journeyman Lineworker. 

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Line Foreman, the Journeyman Lineworker is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. This position also supports the operation and maintenance of substation facilities and associated equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electric lines
  • Maintenance of substation facilities
  • Operation and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment
  • Driving trucks and operating machinery
  • Loading, unloading, and handling materials
  • Climbing utility poles and working from aerial man-lift devices
  • Responding to outages and emergency situations in a timely manner
  • Working on-call, after hours, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather as required

Qualifications
Qualified applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program
  • Successful completion of a qualified four-year Journeyman Lineworker training program
  • Valid North Dakota Driver’s License
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
