Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative is proud to announce the recipients of our 2023 Sharing Success, Rural Development Finance Corporation (RDFC) and Operation Round Up grants.
Rural Development Finance Corporation (RDFC) Grants
As a member of the Rural Development Finance Corporation (RDFC), Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative had the opportunity to provide $3,000 in grants to organizations within the cooperative's service area. The 2023 RDFC grants were awarded as follows:
- The Burke County WWI Memorial Building Preservation Committee was awarded $1,000 to install a new propane furnace in the Flaxton Memorial Hall.
- The Kenmare Park District was awarded $1,000 to construct a new outdoor swimming pool and bath house.
- The Society of St. Stephen was awarded $1,000 to construct a new food pantry in Bowbells.
Sharing Success Grants
In partnership with CoBank and Basin Electric Power Cooperative, Burke-Divide Electric awarded $22,500 in grants to organizations within the Cooperative’s service area. The 2023 Sharing Success Grants were awarded as follows:
- The Bowbells Ambulance Service was awarded $1,500 to purchase a new scoop stretcher.
- The Kenmare Public School was awarded $7,500 to purchase additional playground equipment.
- The Burke County WWI Memorial Building Preservation Committee was awarded $6,000 to install a new propane furnace in the Flaxton Memorial Hall.
- The Kenmare Park District was awarded $7,500 to construct a new outdoor swimming pool and bath house.
Operation Round Up Grants
- The Northern Plains Special Education Unit received $800 for group activity expenses.
- The Donnybrook Rural Fire District received $800 to purchase new tires for its grass truck.
- The Kenmare Public School received $800 to purchase physical fitness equipment.
- The Miss Rodeo North Dakota Organization received $800 to assist Lindsey Miller, current Miss Rodeo North Dakota, in her ambassador activities. Lindsey Miller is the daughter of BDEC members Stephen and Denise Miller of Flaxton.
