Thank you to the members and guests who attended Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative’s (BDEC) 81st annual meeting June 10 at the Kenmare outpost.

72 members registered to vote, and 200 members and guests enjoyed a barbecue-style meal. Attendees also received a ceramic knife and peeler set as a token of appreciation.

Capital credit checks were distributed to members who received electric service from the cooperative in 2011, 2012 and/or 2014. If you were unable to attend the annual meeting and were eligible for a capital credit retirement, your check was mailed to you.

Thomas Campbell, state director of U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development, shared information about programs and funding opportunities available through the agency that help strengthen rural communities and support economic growth.

BDEC Business Manager Brooke Watterud presented the cooperative’s 2025 financial report and shared that Eide Bailly issued BDEC an unmodified or “clean” audit opinion for 2025. President David Sigloh and I provided an update on the cooperative’s operations during the past year. Topics included finalization of projects and reimbursements related to the April 2022 storm, the cooperative’s new construction work plan, capital credit retirements, ongoing supply chain  challenges and future rate considerations.

Members reelected Kurt Koppelsloen and Jeff Dahlin to the board of directors. Koppelsloen represents District 2 and Dahlin represents District 3. Both directors will serve new three-year terms.

Koppelsloen and Dahlin were also recognized fortheir 15 years of service on the board.

The winner of the $500 progressive cash drawing was not present at the meeting. Stockton Nelson was the recipient of the $500 luck-of-the-draw scholarship.
