Randy Landsverk and Scott Lesmeister completed the Comprehensive Staking Technician Certification Program sponsored by the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives.
The certification program included approximately three weeks of intensive classroom instruction, followed by independent testing. The curriculum covered a wide range of technical subjects, including basic surveying, power line design, application of electrical safety and construction standards, proper transformer sizing, and easement and permit acquisition.
Staking technicians are responsible for designing electrical service extensions, upgrades and system improvements. Their work ensures that facilities are properly engineered, materials are accurately specified, and installations meet safety and regulatory requirements. This planning is essential for maintaining reliable service and supporting future system growth.
