The season of giving
As the holidays approach and the air turns crisp, we’re reminded this truly is the season of giving. It’s a time for gratitude, generosity and looking out for one another. At Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative, that’s something we value year-round.
“Concern for community” is more than a phrase. It’s one of the core principles that makes cooperatives different from other utilities. We’re not only here to keep the lights on. We’re here to make life better for our members, neighbors and friends.
Over the years, we’ve faced challenges together, and our co-op family has stepped up every time. We’ve come together to support those in need, to keep our community strong and to build something better for the future. That generosity shines brightest during the holiday season.
Programs like Operation Round Up make a real difference. Thanks to the members who round up their electric bills and the employees who round down their paychecks each month, we can help fund local organizations that provide valuable services within our communities. Every little bit adds up.
We’re also proud to invest in the next generation. Through the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour program, local students travel to Washington, D.C., to see democracy in action, dream big and prepare to lead. And because we care deeply about safety, our team visits schools across the area to teach kids and adults how to stay safe around electricity.
You’ll also find our employees giving back beyond their co-op roles. Many of our employees volunteer as firefighters and first responders, coach youth sports, serve on nonprofit boards, and work with local businesses and development groups to keep our economy strong.
While the season is festive, we know it can also bring challenges. If you need help lowering energy costs, want to explore payment options or simply have questions, please reach out. We’re here to support you all year long.
This holiday season, we’re grateful to be part of such a caring and generous community. We wish you and your loved ones joy, safety and bright days ahead.
Until next time,
Jerry King
